exactly. and someone who runs tribe must have a very twisted sense of humor and is probably laughing his ass off watching us "freaks" squirm. (for those who missed this - they are *constantly* monitoring the Flickr page and deleting posts - *hundreds* of comments have gotten deleted.)

as for the new title ("We love TRIBE and will pay anything to keep it UP!"), it just makes the whole "tribe always down" act look like some sort of an extortion attempt. (why don't they just ask for a $5 a year subscription fee, many people would prefer paying for subscription over constantly "eating donuts".)

ok, i'm done griping. (actually... i'm really more *musing* than griping. :)

I juswt joined Facebook and have been spending more time on Orkut and 360. I hate this tribe crap but still love tribe enough not to quit altogether.

Facebook has steadfastly denied me entrance as "Lokifreign". I'm not giving a website my slavename without some serious $$$ being involved, and that's all there is to it. Bah!

MySpace sends me msgs that someone wants to be my friend occasionally which means at some point during my drinking days I made a MySpace profile. How to get in to it is a mystery to me, but not really a pressing one.

It's not too bad - I'm keeping it tabbed while I tinker around trying to break into the playground.

Redirecting everyone from tribe.net to here one step at a time would be fun.

Personally, as I get familiar with it, just interface-wise - THIS ROCKS KIND OF WAY HARDER THAN TRIBE. The thing about our Alma Mater is the network - much harder to upload than jpgs, music files, and so forth. Which I will be uploading at every opportunity.

Here's a thought -

What if it's just a bandwidth problem? Tribe.net, as we all know, lost all its employees to Cisco at a ridiculously low cost - less than half of their initial capital (that's hardly 'success' I ween) - and bandwidth for such a huge number of members has got to be exorbitant.

I notice that the problems and weird patches of seemingly random accessible moments could be explained by them running out of bandwidth.

This would also explain Pincus' comments re: "fucking pay us, then, bitches"

Bandwidth is expensive. We could take up a collection...? With the proviso that they grow up and put five minutes into typing out "we would love to stay online, so if you want to remain on this site you need to be willing to pay a modest yearly fee".

Multiply the number of users X a modest yearly fee. See what I'm saying? Why haven't they done this before? Sure, they'd lose a few folks but - who cares? Fuck the people they'd lose - they're probably whining neocon scumbags or perverted blackmailers anyway, right?

Let's do this thing. I like tribe.net pretty well (but if all my beloveds were here instead I'd shut right up).
