tribe... politics... and more!

tribe backup/alternative - for those of us who have had enough donuts recently..

tribe definitely has an addictive quality to it...

sort of like cigarettes - or pot, even: when you're out, you want it most~!

(and when it's readily available, you could care less or... even feel annoyed by it....)

anyway, this has been part of my experience....

I don't like to use the word addiction unless I'm talking agout a substance problem. But never the less, I have a strong Tribe habit, for sure!

I'm always looking forward to the time when I can get on again. When I'm busy working I sometimes forget about it with all the tasks in front of me. But when I'm spending leisure time there's always this hankering. I want to get on Tribe! Sometimes a computer is not available or my fiance wants to spend time with me while I'm not on a computer, but in the back of my mind I'm waiting till my next opportunity to sign in to Tribe. So, yeah, I'm addicted.

But when Tribe is having problems I find I'm patient enough lately. I know they are trying to make it work now, and that is so much better than before when we didn't know if they were going to make the effort to continue.

So I'll wait patiently this time. Tribe is down right now. It's 9: 38 pm. Estimated time of return is 2am. I'll be asleep by then.

I'll see if anything of interest is going on on ning. Then I'll watch TV or read a magazine until my fiance gets home.

Well, now it's looking like noon today (although I'm not holding my breath). They're replacing their image server, which I take to be a good sign.

A bit OT, how do I view a list of all discussions, like the "topics" page in each tribe? Do I just click on Forum?

Oh, and when someone sends me a friend invite, how do I get to their profile to check them out? If I click on their picture, it just displays a list of their friends. I can find no way to actually view their profile before accepting the invite.

This place really is confusing.

If you find their picture in the members area you can click on it to see their profile. It's called their "page" rather than "profile" here lately. I don't have a standing friend invite at the moment to see what happens when you click on their picture from the friend invite. Hope this helps.

That's the problem: Clicking on their picture from a friend invite *doesn't* take you to their page (profile).

i hate to gripe, but.... there is something almost disturbingly unprofessional about the way they handle this:

"we'll be back online no later than 5pm".... ---->> then at 9pm they go: "we'll be back at 2am"..... ---->> and then next morning, amost 24 hours later: "we'll be back at noon"....

WTF??!! i wish they knew what they're doing. ~ what a bunch.~

(ok. i'm done venting. i feel better now. :)

Well, this one I can kind of forgive because I doubt they thought that they'd have to actually replace the server.

At least they've learned quickly to change their terminology: Instead of "we'll be back online no later than," now it's "ETA." Unless you're absolutely certain about the time, you should always give an estimate. And you're better off overestimating than underestimating.

Even when I realize I've come to hate it, and I don't want to know what's going on, and all the people I'd really like to communicate with are caught up in totally other stuff, I still end up clicking on the damn refresh button.

The only reason I'm typing this here is that there's some glitch preventing me from posting to tribe. I tried to tell Ani the guitar she's getting for her husband is seriously awesome and she got a great deal on it if it's anything under 3G$; probably Monday all three attempts will post at once....
