i have a distinct impression that people who run tribe are either completely clueless and have no idea what they're doing, or they have completely different priorities.

i'm mostly referring to Darren of course, since Mark clearly has other priorities, and Wendy (aka the TOU Gal) seems to be functioning just fine, under the circumstances.

anyway, i really don't want tribe to die, although i'm afraid it might be just a question of *when* rather than *if* (it's going to croak). in fact, i deleted my entire blog module on tribe, just so i wouldn't feel "emotionally attached" to tribe anymore, but.... that didn't seem to do the trick. ::: shrugs :::

(oh great. perhaps that makes me a tribe addict...)

At the moment tribe is completely down, there's not even a message saying when it will be back online. This has happened a few times lately. Wasn't there supposed to be a big update to tribe in July? That's what I heard at least, and it didn't happen.

You actually know those people -- Darren, Mark and Wendy? Have you met them in meatspace?

Are they long-suffering, ill-compensated servants of an ideal of the cyber-commons? Or did they take their Cisco money and mostly run, save for the occasional and fitful server upgrade which causes these outages?

One thing appears clear: Ilianowear or whateverthefuck it's called is not paying the rent.
